Ok, after reading a little more I saw where someone said that it might be a default browser issue. So, I went to my default apps area and found that there was no browser setup as default. I did not even have one to select from.
So, I went down to the bottom of the window and selected the option to “Set defaults by app”. In that window, I selected Microsoft Edge. Under the right hand window that now shows Microsoft Edge, I selected “Set this program as default” It did it’s thing.
I closed all of these windows and restarted Outlook and now email links work again. I hope this might help others that run into this issue. I went through Method 1 but did not fix. Method 2, I started comparing a working machine to what existed on the terminal server and found a bunch of missing items. I imported everything under the htmlfile and now that has fixed the issue with opening links in email. Also, in doing this, when I clicked on an email address, it would open in the browser.
And now everything is working.
