The Empires mode is basically a story mode with a couple of mini-games thrown in here and there. In the larger map, players fight rival armies or in this case, rival clans to take over territories and ultimately take control of the world. To give some further context to the map, an empire can either be one of nine different Chinese clans, or one of the 4 Mongolic clans.
Your clan have 2 army camps on the map, and each army camp have a number of generals and soldiers. In order to conquer another clan, you must either kill their generals or make all of your soldiers in one camp leave the battlefield, thereby lowering your own army camp to 0. The exception is when you capture an AI controlled read: automatically generated camp, which counts as a capture.
The AI controlled camp come with characters, which can be used to help your army by attacking and supporting. The battle engine and combat are the same as in Dynasty Warriors 6, with the exception of being able to play through the story as Xiahou Dun. This makes the game a little more diverting than if you’d been playing as him from the beginning.
There are only a few new weapons to be found, as well as some new skills, and an additional new attack-styles to go with the new evolutions you can obtain from defeating enemies.
Other than that, you can probably find everything in this game if you played the original, and there are plenty of things to be found. The character models are, for the most part, still terrible.
The warriors look rather tacked on, and some of the horses, while looking better than the terrible models of DW5 and DW6, look so simple they still might as well be unpainted, especially compared to the exquisitely detailed models in previous titles. The environments are quite nice, if entirely unchanged from DW5, but without further improvements, the worlds still feel bland and lifeless.
And the incredibly flat and dull sound designs take away from a lot of the charm of the series. If you played Dynasty Warriors 4 through 6, you might miss the cities and temples from that game, and the second-tier character models that you had in Dynasty Warriors 5, but, if you’re a new player, you’ll find a mostly unchanged Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires.
While there are some additions and tweaks to combat that add a tad though not a lot of variety. As you progress through the game, you’ll be able to purchase weapon effects that, for example, increase your attack radius or let you do elemental damage. You can also purchase special attacks and abilities, up to four of which can be assigned at any given time; these include fire attacks, falling rocks, and more.
Enemy lieutenants and generals are tougher to take down and seem to do a lot more damage, and these effects and attacks help balance the slightly higher level of difficulty. The renbu system from last year’s Dynasty Warriors 6 works differently in Empires as well. In DW6’s renbu system, you increased your combo count by sustaining a long chain of attacks. Now, your renbu level rises and your combo potential increases as you upgrade your weapon, which means there’s less reason to care about racking up long chains during battle.
The cool thing is they don’t just randomly drop in, like they did in DW6, they will give you enough time to accumulate them and then they’re done.
Do you remember the Golden Bribe in DW6? The one that says, “You get one when you complete the mission! That’s no longer true, all you have to do is defend, and you get a bonus in a new way. To defend, the AI will send out one of their characters to your front line and one to your back line. This is actually a very useful concept because of the new “Barbarian rule”, which states that if one of their units is damaged, they have to pull the damaged unit out of the fight and replace it with a new unit.
Their units can also use buff moves, which give you free attack points for a limited amount of time. So what I’m saying is, there is a lot of new stuff to do in DW6, and to me, it makes up for a lot of what felt wrong with the series as of last year. Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires doesn’t change much about the gameplay, but it definitely improves it and makes it all the more enjoyable.

It is a total revamp from previous games that has been rebuilt from the ground up.
Koei planned to make this game feel like an old kung-fu action movie as the attacks are motion-captured by real life martial artists. In previous games, players could only travel on land. In Dynasty Warriors 6, they can now swim and climb ladders. Ladders are usually attached to towers or gates, while the swimming feature takes place in only a few stages.
Players can also jump off cliffs, bridges, and other high leveled platforms and land on lower ground. If the player does this and lands near an enemy unit. Bases have also been revamped. In this installment, however, gates need to be attacked in order to be opened. If the player rides a fast enough horse or use an unconventional method to enter a base, the gates do not need to be smashed. To capture the base, the player needs to K. O a certain number of enemies inside to lower its health. Corporal units count as twenty health points and, when the remaining number of points is one hundred or lower, a Guard Captain comes out.

A new system takes place of the old attack chains, called Renbu. In previous ports, the number of attacks available to use were affected by the level and quality of the wielded weapon. The more powerful weapons would allow more attacks. The level of the gauge ranges from One, Two, Three, and Infinite. As the gauge grows higher, attacks will have longer range and will become more powerful. If the player does not attack for a period or takes heavy damage, the Renbu Gauge will decrease.
The new Renbu system allows character, even at Gauge level 1 to execute infinite attack strings. Dynasty Warriors 6 sports a Skill Tree unique to all characters. Each branch is attained by gaining a level and it will be complete by level With it, players can unlock many items, ranging from stat-boosting or add-on skills.
Also available is a special ability which allows wild animals to refrain from attacking and movement-quickening skills, such as swimming and running.
Weapons are no longer quality-based ranks and unique Fourth Weapons have been removed. Each weapon is now divided into three categories — Strength, Standard, and Skill. Strength — usually have a higher attack power, at the cost of Renbu Chains being kept for a smaller amount of time. Musou Mode Like the previous title, individual characters have their own Musou Modes.
Out of all the playable characters, only seventeen are given unique stories. No extra story stages or alternative paths are available. In Free mode, players may select any unlocked stage and play that stage with any unlocked character.
Out of all 41 playable characters only 9 of them are available at the start of the game. The five modes are: Rampage — Defeat as many enemies as possible in the allotted time Sudden Death.
The data combines history and information found in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. Similar historical entries can also been found in Romance of the Three Kingdoms series.
Forty one playable characters are in this game with no new characters being introduced into the series. Unique movesets for each character have been largely reduced. Your clan have 2 army camps on the map, and each army camp have a number of generals and soldiers. In order to conquer another clan, you must either kill their generals or make all of your soldiers in one camp leave the battlefield, thereby lowering your own army camp to 0.
The exception is when you capture an AI controlled read: automatically generated camp, which counts as a capture. The AI controlled camp come with characters, which can be used to help your army by attacking and supporting.
The battle engine and combat are the same as in Dynasty Warriors 6, with the exception of being able to play through the story as Xiahou Dun. This makes the game a little more diverting than if you’d been playing as him from the beginning. There are only a few new weapons to be found, as well as some new skills, and an additional new attack-styles to go with the new evolutions you can obtain from defeating enemies.
Other than that, you can probably find everything in this game if you played the original, and there are plenty of things to be found. The character models are, for the most part, still terrible. The warriors look rather tacked on, and some of the horses, while looking better than the terrible models of DW5 and DW6, look so simple they still might as well be unpainted, especially compared to the exquisitely detailed models in previous titles.
