The demo felt too much of a port to me,and a rushed one. I didn’t had any controller plugged,and my keyboard doesn’t have a start button. I tried to click with my mouse on the message,nothing. I pressed spacebar,nothing. I pressed Escape,nothing.
I pressed Enter,and it finally went to the next menu. I hate the game lobby screen. I was at a lobby full of players,and the game wouldn’t start,because some immature players would press a “delay” button over and over again when the timer would reach the last 5 seconds. I was waiting for 10 minutes just for the game to start.
When it started,I found out that the graphics where bad. They might not be bad for consoles,but since we are talking about Crysis.. Well for the first minutes of the game I didn’t mind playing the game,but checking out graphics and controls.
I chose the “hardcoe” setting for graphics,which is the highest and I was amazed that the highest detail Crysis 2 textures can get isn’t even as good as the “mainstream” setting which was the medium for Crysis Warhead. In the few minutes I play-tested,2 bugs occured.
One of the bugs had my character moving backwards by himself,without me pressing the button to move him backwards. Another bug that appeared 2 times was that the “suit menu” wouldn’t get out of the middle of the screen after I choose the suit’s mode. The graphic of the menu would just stay there,in the middle of my screen. I felt like somebody put blinkers to my character because I wouldn’t see someone passing right next to me until he moves 5 or 7 yards in front of me. I’m too dissapointed,I was expecting that if Crysis 2 wouldn’t get better than Crysis in the technical department,it would at least keep some of the things people liked at the first game,but Crysis 2 managed to alienate a fan of the original.
I won’t buy it. I will wait for Duke Nukem instead. Maybe the SP is more entertaining, but the MP is just garbage. I am disappointed with the direction they took focusing it on multiplayer, I guess Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor, and the upcoming Battlefield 3 were not enough for them to not compete with COD.
